Front yard update...

Yesterday I shared with you how much I hated all the upkeep on this hedge along the side of my front yard...well...here goes...
The hedge is gone and this is the ugly chain link fence it covered...actually, my neighbor who is doing the work was able to save the plants and he will use them at one of his rentals. See, no plants were killed during this renovation...they also found 9...count them...9 baby fan palm trees growing under there! Gifts from the birds I imagine. He dug those up too. I really am not too fond of palm trees in my yard so I was up for giving them away.

Here it is rather naked right now...

These are the bricks that will make up the wall...it's hard to see here but they are rather rustic looking and I am all about that! They have a nice rough texture on them. They are made of concrete and we have lots of concrete makers around here. Anyone with any knowledge of this area knows it's built on rocks and sand!!

Victor brought in the big guns this morning to dig and help get things going....they are such nice men even if I don't know if they understand a word I say! I understand some Spanish and they understand some English and in between, Victor translates, so it has gone smooth sailing so far.

While they were out there working, I was inside sewing...I have to pay for that wall somehow...Here is my latest bag for my Etsy shop. I am hoping for an early Fall and this bag will be perfect for Fall. When I found this line of fabrics I bought 4 of the different fabrics. I wanted it all, but I had to restrain myself. I used 3 of the patterns on this bag.

Don't you just love that button...It was unfinished when I got them and Don stained it a nice walnut to match the fabric. I love how the wood grain comes out after he applied the stain. I kept this bag pretty simple because the fabric is the star. Just some nice big rick rack and that awesome button. It's quilted inside and out.

Here's the polka dot fabric that is part of the line. I can never resist polka dots! Once again there are a ton of pockets going all around the inside of the bag and a key hook too.
Today is going to be a hot one once again...I think it is supposed to be 98 degrees. I have no idea why I picked the hottest time of the year to have these guys build a wall, but ...that's the way I roll sometimes...by the seat of my pants...
Have a great Friday!!

Now that is a great makeover! Your yard is really coming along.

OK, that bag is so cute. I bought so many purse patterns at the LB show and they assured me how easy they were. Yeah right! NOT easy! Time to go take a class because my mind cannot read those patterns.

That is going to be a great makeover! I hate those palm trees too.. they seem to pop up everywhere.. I thought it was squirrels bringing gifts.. maybe it's the birds??

Thanks for the visit!

We had a hedge like that when I was a kid and I always dreaded when Dad would trim it up because we did all the clean up work. I was sure glad to see it go. Your yard is going to look great with the new make~over!

That wall is going to be a nice addition to your landscape, Linda. Love the purses and of course, the Stella photo. She's a keeper, that's for sure!

Your new wall will be so nice. I had to laugh when you said you don't understand what there saying. lol I remember those days. Luckily now I understand everyone. :-) That can be frustrating for both sides.

I have a hedge like that out front, and we have to keep it up too. I don't like it too much, but hubby likes it, so until I can convince him that something else will be nicer, I guess I have to live with it :-) I think you'll love that wall. Your bag is so sweet too.
Blessings,
Marcia
