We pulled it off!!

We've been planning this surprise for months...and months...on Friday, Don left for a overnight visit to his friend's house ...for a cribbage party with some of his close friends...we were still wondering if he suspected...he didn't seem to act like he knew anything was up...so the kids came up from San Diego...we did some last minute shopping and baking...
We were concerned on Friday...because the wind was blowing like crazy...it does that this time of year...but when Saturday morning rolled around...the air was still and it was time to tidy things up....
And get the yard ready for the big event...
The kids all worked so hard helping me out...I couldn't have done without their help...they set up the tables so nicely...
And they even made the center pieces at home and transported them up here...
Selin greeted the guests as they came...everyone was so anxious for the moment Don would come home...
It worked!!! He was so surprised...in fact...we were a little worried because he seemed to just stand there for the longest time...without moving...without saying a word! But then he smiled and was ready to get this party going!
Now everyone could just sit back and relax!
While Don went around and greeted everyone....
 And thanked them for coming....
He was happy to see that so many people came to his big event!
He seemed to be smiling all day!!
Everyone was having a good time...Selin and Stella were talking about the right amount of bling to wear to a surprise party...
Stephen relaxed with some old friends he hadn't seen in a while...
Don was still wandering around hugging everyone...
It was time to eat...the taco guy had everything ready and it was delicious!
I want to thank these two...Anna and Selin for all their help...they took most of the pictures ...that was one more thing I didn't have to worry about...
It was so nice to get so many friends and family together....
And the weather couldn't have turned out better...it was sunny, clear with just a slight breeze...
 I even got to carry around a wee one for a while...this is Melia...my neighbor's youngest...isn't she a cutie!!
The apple tree is always a big hit with the younger set at a party...our nephew Gus enjoyed a climb up there...
It was fun seeing everyone enjoying themselves...
And after a long day of eating, drinking and partying...Don settled down and read all the cards and notes he received...Thanks everyone for coming and sharing this day with Don...he feels truly blessed to have you all in his life. Thanks to my sister Debbie for all the wonderful treats she made...they were a big hit...I never did get one of the chocolate covered marshmallows...not that I needed one!
Until next time...enjoy your day!!!

That Don is one lucky man to have such a great family and so many friends who care. What a beautiful set up. Your yard is so pretty, my grass is brown and crunchy.
