The Friday after Thanksgiving, we took a drive out to La Quinta to visit Don's brother. He and his wife have retired out there. La Quinta is past Palm Springs in the low desert of Southern California. Although it is only about a 2 hour drive for us...I had never been there before.
I wanted to see the big dinosaurs on our way out there. These are a tourist attraction that were built many years ago...kind of like the world's biggest ball of string and world's biggest frying pan...these are the world's biggest dinosaurs...or are they? This one is pretty big...I had to go across the street to get it all in the picture!

Here's looking up at it...
And here's Don in front, so you get an idea of how big they really are! There is a store inside this one. We didn't go inside...it was cold and windy out...I just wanted a couple photos and to say I've finally visited the World's Biggest Dinosaurs!
Here's the other one...I must say...they were interesting!
A while down the freeway and you come across miles and miles of wind mills...I took the pictures from the moving car...it was pretty windy out, but surprisingly, not all of them were turned on...we thought that was strange...
Here's a double stacked train going by...I took this so you can see how tall those wind mills are!
More down the road and there were a couple miles of burned trees along the edge of the road...I guess there was a fire there some time ago...it was very sad looking here.

Well...we are finally there. This is the view from their backyard. They live on a golf course. It's very pretty at this time of year, but it was on the cool side and very cold at night.
I hope you enjoyed driving with us...have a great Outdoor Wednesday...for more posts go visit Susan and see what everyone else is up to...

What a fun post! I've never heard of those dinasours and I missed them last year when I visited La Quinta which by the way is up against some beautiful mountains! I was mesmerized by them. Loved the area to visit...too hot for me to live there though :-)
I love the photos of the dinosaurs. They are huge. Happy Outdoor Wednesday.
Thanks for your visit. It looks like you had a delightful vacation!
We saw some dinos in Oregon on 101...relatives, maybe? Has it been cold in your part of CA? It was very chilly in SLO. Nice photos, thanks!
I love the desert in the winter!
Thanks for taking us along on your trip to Palm Springs, Linda. I've never been there either! And those dinosaurs are amazing...I can't believe that there is a store inside one of them! WOW!
XOXO,
Cyndi
