Joseph and I drove up to Big Bear again today for a day of snow boarding...it was a nice day...about 42 degrees for the high and sunny. The road we would normally take is closed...probably for the rest of the year anyways, as half of the road is gone due to a slide from all the rain we have been having. The drive up there was nice...this way the road is a bit less winding ...but there was a lot of traffic once we got to town.
There was more snow up today than the last time too...

It was so pretty...all the green trees against the fresh white snow...
and the blue sky...I can't get enough of these views...
The drive back down the hill took quite a bit longer than normal...we didn't consider the holiday week in our decision...it just seemed like a good day...and the fact that a main road is closed for the season...but all in all...a great time spent with my older son...

Lovely shots of a winter season! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful pictures of Big Bear. We haven't been up that way in years. What a great time to spend with your son. Grab all that special time you can.
The views are marvelous! Quite breathtaking! I am sure you had a wonderful day!

Looks like a fun day. I'm sure a cup of hot chocolate was in there somewhere. Happy New Year.
The scenery is amazing. Happy New Year! La
Oooh! Nice snow your way, too, I see. How fun that you got to use yours for snowboarding. My son pulled his board out and decided it wasn't worth the risk - too many places with not enough snow. ;) He'll have to wait until January for snowboarding our way.
Thanks for visiting the cottage. Please be sure to come by and enter my fantastic year-end giveaway. Click the picture in my sidebar for details.
By the way, I just joined you as a follower.
Blessings and Happy New Year!

Now that's real snow - not like at Weston! Beautiful - thanks!!
Happy New Year
Hi,
Yes, it started raining here last night again and it has continued on all day. My handy man just left after fixing a leak in the ceiling...the drip, drip, drip kept me awake all night. I love the rain but not some of the problems it creates.(-: The snow in the mountains must be wonderful now, from my house I can see Mt Baldy and it is covered. Happy New Year.
It looked like a beautiful day in your neck of the woods..We are still in the gloomy..Fantastic pictures and gorgeous sky!
Happy New Year!
Your day at Bit Bear sounds so wonderful even if the traffic was heavy. We ski though. Snow boarding is for the young and we are old. Smile. Your photos are beautiful and made me long for our skiing trips from the past. I'm glad you had a great time. We used to take our children skiing too. Fun times.
Hugs, Jeanne
Excellent photos! We are gloomy and dark...wishing I were in this sunshine!
Gorgeous! What a clear blue sky. Made me want to go skiing, although I haven't been in 20 years!
Big Bear was my first CA experience a bazillion years ago (a GS encampment), and I loved it. We later lived in San Diego and enjoyed hiking in in the beautiful CA mountains. They're not nearly as wet as the ones here.
Linda you captured some wonderful photos of the beautiful view and blue skies! It must be fun to experience such a dramatic change in weather from your normal warm temperatures.
Thanks for all your compliments! Happy 2011 to you and your family!
Beautiful Pics !
Happy New Year !

What beautiful images. Wishing you all the best for the New Year.
Wow, lovely winter sceneries.
Happy New Year.
Beautiful pictures.
Your Lola reminds me of our granddog, Diesel. He makes us smile too. He's also our only grand at the present time.
