We're off to the sewing and quilt show...

This morning, my sister, Debbie and I went off to the sewing and quilt show at the LA fair grounds in Pomona. It's not a very big show, but I love to go none the less. One of my favorite on-line pattern and supply stores was there as always...Bird Brain Designs...they have the cutest red work patterns and the wool patterns are great too. I have so many of their patterns and I love every one of them. Today I just picked up some supplies I needed for Christmas gifts. I can't show those to you today...
Their booth was full of Fall and Christmas kits as well as the everyday.

This was a new to me store...Attic Heirlooms...this booth had wonderful wool patterns...oh my...I wanted them all!!

Look at all those luscious candle mats up there...

I got these two patterns...they are Christmas wall hangings...they will be wonderful on my front porch!

Look at these buttons I picked up...they are going to be layered with mother of pearl buttons on some future bags....yummy!

I also love cross stitch and this booth was very cute...Bobbie G. Designs...

they had a special...buy 3 get one free...here's a couple I got...

Now here's a funny story...When I was 18 years old I got a job at a local department store called Fedco. It was a great job...I ended up working there for about 18 years and met my husband there as well....and guess what...this was my very first store manager...Matt Ross...isn't it a small world?? The funny thing is...he recognized me!! And I haven't seen him in over 20 years, because I left there and went to work somewhere else. He had moved up just a couple of years after I started to the corporate level...his girlfriend designed and sells these bibs...in baby size of course...and he was happy to help her out! What fun to see him!

On the way home we stopped for some lunch and then to a plant store where I picked up some mums for the front porch...

this picture didn't come out very good for some reason...they are more orange than this pink...oh well...burnt orange and yellow mums scream Autumn...so I will put them in pots tomorrow...
I had a really good day today...I gave out lots of business cards for my bags...lots of good compliments on the one I was carrying...so that was a good thing.
Thanks Debbie!! I'm so glad you went with me!!

OMG! I love Bird Brain!! I want all of those candle mats too. If traffic wasn't so horrific this week I may have wanted to drive down there to see it but I cannot stand to be in a car another minute. UGH!!!

I don't sew or quilt and it still looks like fun. I used to cross stitch all the time and I quit about 20 years ago. Seeing these kits makes me want to try it again!

Thanks for visiting me!

Hi Linda,
I see no reason why you couldn't substitute veg broth for chichen broth. Or even, just water. Use all water, no broth, or try the broth. Let me know.

I am not a needlework girl but this still looks like an interesting event. As for you rain post,I know we need rain to keep nature functioning but I prefer it when it rains at night.
Thanks for visiting 'News From Italy' and commenting, it is appreciated. Any ideas for apple desserts that freeze well would be welcomed.

That looks like a handy bib with the cupholder pocket. Did you get any of that pretty redwork? Sounds like you had a fun time.

Sounds like you had a great time. My mil used to shop at Fedco all the time. Our friend was a manager at one of the stores until they closed.

Do you go to the Wrightwood quilt show? My friend Jill and I try to go each year. She has a blog too.
Blessings,
Marcia

I haven't heard of the redwork company before, but I'll look up their web site. Beautiful mums. Love the fall colors.

Oh, I remember Fedco, that's where I purchased my first set of t-fal pots and pans. I believe the stores were replaced with Target.

P.S. Thanks for stopping by while I was away visiting the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.
