I finished a couple bags...

Here's a couple of my latest bags...this one is a diaper bag made for a gal at Don's work. She found out she is having a girl and wanted a large bag...she has another wee one at home...in mostly lavenders. She also liked the scrappy look of another bag I made a while back. The fabric is Moda's Happy by Me and My Sisters Designs. I found a charm pack on EBay and was lucky enough to get enough yardage for the lining, pocket and handles from Fat Quarters Shop. I added a couple squares out of the yardage because this pattern...I actually followed a pattern on this one...calls for 48 charm squares and 42 came in the pack...
I tweaked the pattern a bit by adding side ties...Oh...the pattern is the Chubby Charmers Bag by Penny Sturges...anyway...I like side ties...they make the bag a little less bulky and they are easy to untie and open the bag when you need it.

Here's the inside...this is different too. I like pockets all the way around, especially in a diaper bag. I made these pockets 8 inches deep...they are great for bottles, wipes and all the small things you need to carry. The pockets are all different widths. I put two snap closures on this bag because it measures 27 inches wide. It has a 10 inch base too...nice and wide for all the things a mother of two wee ones needs to carry. I hope she will enjoy this bag.

Here's another finish....I have been reading about everyone going apple picking lately and I had this cute apple fabric at home...I got it from Quilters Coop in the back sale room...with a little bit of planning, I was able to stretch the one yard into a cute bag. I think this would make a great bag to take on a picnic!

Here's a closeup of the fabric...

Here's the inside...of course there's pockets all around and a key hook too...I'm going to add this one to my sad Etsy shop...I really need to get busy adding some inventory there. I have been busy with special orders and other fun Fall projects for my home , so I have neglected my shop. But if you would like me to custom make or tweak any of the bags you have seen...let me know...I love doing custom work...the bags I make are all one of a kind...if I repeat a fabric, it will still be different.
Today is the third day of cooler weather here in my neck of the woods...in fact it is drizzly outside and the thermometer under my apple tree reads 62...amazing! This is the best sewing weather! I hope you are having a great weekend...enjoy your day!!

Both are very pretty! I'm partial to the red one because that's my favorite color, but the other is a great way to use charm squares. Your friend will be pleased to have something both useful, attractive AND well-made!

Hi Linda,
The bags are great! I really like that "apple" fabric. It looks kind of vintage! Great job on construction, too.
