We're off!!

Since we took an early morning flight into Sacramento...we had the whole first day ahead of us when we arrived. Gerry drove us back to his house and we quickly unpacked because Gerry and Chris had many activities planned for the day...we started off with an early lunch at a Greek restaurant called Athena in Old Town Suisun. Gerry and Chris used to live in Suisun in an huge Victorian house that they restored, but now it is the home of Chris's business and the upstairs is apartments. It is a short walk down here to the water.
Lunch was great and we stopped to pose for a couple photos down by the boats...
You can sure tell these two are brothers...
Oh no...the brothers are at it! Come on guys...let's play nice!!
Our next stop was Wooden Valley Winery...it a local winery...but remember...we are really close to Napa and Sonoma...
On our way to the tasting room...
I stopped to look at the cute picnic area outside...
This was a nice small winery and the gal there even invited me to participate in a craft show when she saw the bag that I was carrying and Don told her about my business...
I went outside while the others did more tasting...pretty roses everywhere...
Wineries plant roses to watch for aphids...they will attack the roses first...then the grapes...so they keep a watchful eye on the roses....
There was this cool old truck out by the picnic area...
Here's looking out across the road...nut trees...
More pretty views...this area is so different from ours...it's rolling hills and lots of small valleys...
Here's the rows and rows of grape vines...it was so pretty.
That was just the first part of day one, but I took so many pictures that I can't really show everything in one post...actually that was just some of the pictures of this winery...I'll show the other wineries we visited tomorrow...they are all so different...so until then...
enjoy the day, my friends!!

You were in Sac, I live about two hours away. My husband went to collage in Sac and we lived there for two years. Sounds like you had a great trip..The brothers look like twins...they really do. You must have hit our heat wave.
Have a sweet day, hugs Elizabeth

Wow Linda -- I had a lot of catching up to do on your blog! I loved the apple crisp recipe and your flight to Sacramento and now this pretty vineyard. I didn't know that fact about the roses! We visited Sonoma and Napa Valley last year and I thought all the roses we saw near the vineyards were just decorative. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

What a fun trip. You sure got some good photos. The roses are beautifu. I have seen grape vines with roses at the end and start of the rows. Now I know why. Yes, we will meet soon. Maybe week after next. Good Idea to carry one of your bags.
