Thursday gardening

I must be honest and say that gardening at this time of year is not my favorite. So many areas of the country are just now beginning their Spring, and in my neck of the woods, Spring is on the way out. This is the time of year when the rain stops and the heats starts. It hasn't really been too hot yet, but the cool weather annuals are going away, and I notice my summer perennials starting to show their faces. This is also when I notice there is a fine line between a lovely cottage garden and a jungle!
The coleus are back...they like the heat as long as they have afternoon shade.

Trying to weed in this can be difficult at best....hmmm, where do I put my feet?

Everyone is fighting for space. I spent the better part of the morning trimming and dead heading. I need to be out of the yard by noon at this time of year or I will melt...

Even this guy is trying to stake out some space...hey, can someone trim these flowers down here before I am smothered...

Gardening also inspires me. I love to watch the birds in my yard. I notice right now so many are still making nests and so this inspired my next project....here is a sneak peek.

Where in CA are you? We used to live in San Diego, in fact, all 3 of our kids were born there. Love your photos and the embroidery. Is it your design?

Your garden is wonderful, but I know what you mean. I live in a hot area too and I can't keep up with mine. It's my bunnies that can't see over the growth.
Love the little birdies and will look forward to seeing what you do with those. Your Red and White tote is cute and love the pockets.

I'm so glad you stopped by my blog. We have lots in common. Gardening (although yours looks better than mine right now) and sewing. Here's to many more visits!
