A bag for me...

I am always either making bags to sell or as gifts for others...it isn't very often that I make something for myself...but since I have been so looking forward to going to the Road to California quilt show next week..I thought I'd make a nice big tote to take to the show...
Here is what I put on the front...I love working with wool...and of course anybody that knows me...knows how much I love birds and flowers...so I thought that would be perfect for my bag...this is from the Summer Gatherings book...it was drawn to go on a table runner, but I think it looks great on my bag.

I found these cool buttons a while ago...the black one is wooden with leather over the top and is kind of concave...the silver one I got at a quilt show last year...it fit perfectly inside I thought. I love to layer things and why not buttons too! Here is a close up of the bird. He is made from some hand dyed wool.

The flowers are made of several different wools..it hard to tell, but on this flower there are 4 various pieces of plaid wool scraps I had.
Wow..I really noticed that the pictures I took are kind of lousy...and you can see the fuzz from the fleece on the flowers...sorry about that!

I like pockets on the outside of my own bags...so I put one on the back. It will hold my cell phone and keys. A lot of people like key hooks, so I will put them in most bags I make for others, but I like my keys and phone on the outside where I can get to them easily...I thought while I was at it...why not another flower on the back!

Here is the inside...I always put in plenty of pockets...and I like a light inside, so I can see what I've got in there! I can't wait to take my new bag to the quilt show!
The weather has changed dramatically this week...the wind is still and the sun is out, so you will find me in the garden today. We usually get some nice Springlike weather for a bit this time of year, so I will be taking advantage of it!
Enjoy the day, my friends and do something for yourself today..it feels good!

What a great bag, Linda. The double button is the crowning touch. I also like the background fabric. What weight thread did you use for the blanket stitch? It looks heavier than "normal" thread in the photos. I'm assuming you did it on the machine? People are going to follow you around at the show, asking where you got the cool bag!

Linda I am hitting myself on my head as I never noticed you had an ETSY store before! I will keep the link in my favorites for the next time I need to buy a gift. Your bags are so pretty! This one is really wonderful ..I love the hounds-tooth fabric and your design. The bluebird is so cute!

Your bag is so pretty Linda. Have fun at the quilt
show. My answer is yes, do the CSN giveaway! They are wonderful to work with, and the only thing you have to do create the post and pick the winner. It's so much fun. Feel free to copy some of the wording from my post. They let you use photos from their stores too.
Blessings,
Marcia

Is it time for Road to California already. I've always wanted to go to that. Your bag is so cute and your wools look great. You find the best stuff. I know what you mean about making something for yourself. Guess that's why I was so excited to get my Kindle cover done.
