Relaxing...

Sometimes I just like to sit in my back yard and relax...not do a thing..but watch the birds and bees at work and play...and enjoy life. I usually do this after I finish my morning gardening...yesterday was such a day...I moved a comfy chair under the apple tree and sat for a while ...I brought my camera out with me...just in case an oriole was feeding near by...
It's hard to believe there are so many apples already...we are still trying to thin them out...but it is a very tall tree...some branches will not get thinned...
I've told you I have a love/hate relationship with this tree...right now I love it...soon...I will curse it ! That's when I am picking so many apples daily and trying to figure out what to do with them all...I only have so many neighbors and friends! We give a lot to the food bank...boxes and boxes!
There were quite a few visits by hummingbirds...I have a hard time taking their pictures...they move around so fast! I wish I had my camera earlier in the morning because as I was trimming the Autumn Sage a very curious hummingbird watched me...he got so close...Don had come over and couldn't believe how this little bird just sort of floated in the air keeping an eye on me! The Don put out his hand slowly towards the little guy and he flew down to check it out...it was amazing...why oh why I didn't have my camera then...It would have made a wonderful video...I don't have pockets in my gardening shorts...no place to hold a camera when I'm working...
Here is a little guy checking out the thinned out Sage...they love this plant...so do the Carpenter Bees...but I didn't see any yesterday when I was relaxing...
This guy moved so fast it looks like he is wingless!
On a completely different subject...I wanted to show you the new sun ranunculus I planted a few months ago...they are all white...
But look at these...the flower looks more like an Iceland Poppy...but no...they are from the same pack of bulbs...pretty...but not the same...
These are more what I expected...it's weird...half of them are different...but to me...all flowers are pretty...so I don't mind...I just thought it was interesting. I have never seen these before...just the colored ones that come up in early Spring...these bulbs came to the nursery when the other ones were starting to bloom...so now I have both kinds...a good thing I think!
Today after gardening Don and I cleaned up and went out to lunch. We ended up at a place called Dolce. It was very good. It is a bakery and cafe. I had a very tasty...and healthy I might add dish with sauteed zucchini, red onions, corn, tomatoes and peppers over a pilaf and some fresh mozzarella...Don had a panini. Not sure if I spelled that right...his had fresh veggies and salami and cheese...it was very good too. We'll go back there again.
Now it's time to get to sewing...I have diaper bags to make!
Until next time...enjoy your day!!

You are just so far ahead of us! Apples to pick? Ours are barely flowering! Loved the bird photos too. I saw humming birds (aoart from in an indoor aviary I mean in the UK) when I visited friends in Wisconsin. they were coming to a honey feeder. I was just soooo excited to see them 'live' But to have them fly up when you are gardening WOW and WOW again!!! Just loved your flower photos what beautiful white flowers. I just must follow your and see more. Joan

Your photography skills are amazing, love the hummers and the flowers. Wished I lived closer, I'd come and grab some apples. What type of apples do you have?

I love watching the hummingbirds. Last summer my brother had so many at his house that he could hold the feeder & they would flock to it. They weren't the least bit scared of him!

Relaxing is just what I need so I was glad I stopped by your blog. I do love hummingbirds but haven't seen any yet, I better check my feeders.

So happy to see you getting to sit and enjoy your beautiful yard that you spend so much time on. Your photos are wonderful. I can't believe the pictures you captured of the hummingbirds.
It is fun to find a good little cafe that isn't a chain and offers such healthy food. your dish sounded so good.
