This and That...

This past few days have been busy...Saturday I taught a class at the local fabric store. This is more of a discount store...but they have some great fabrics...you just have to dig sometimes...
This is Rachel...she is the manager...she's a very sweet gal who always greets me with a smile whenever I shop there...which is often!! They have great rugs too...Don and I just got an outdoor rug for our craft fair booths there for about half what you would pay at another store.
Here's my first student...this was a demo class...so I just showed them how to make the bags and gave instructions...most of the gals have a bit of sewing experience...
Here's after the class...some of the gals had questions and I wanted to show them everything up close... it was an interesting experience. I think I would like to teach more...but I would like one where the students can sew and I help them...I think that would be more fun...but I was glad I tried this...it helped me get over my fear of speaking in front of people...and I had fun!
One of Don's brothers and his wife came down to spend a couple days with us...did we take pictures....No! I need to remember to take more! Anyway...we went out to lunch before my class on Saturday and on the way home...we noticed that there were a ton of yard sales happening close by...well...Don and I can't pass up a yard sale...so we stopped by a few and a church rummage sale too...nothing I got was worth alot...but then I didn't pay much either! I got this for a succulent container...50 cents was a great price to me! It's hard to see the detail in my picture...but its really pretty!
This vase was 50 cents too...I thought it was pretty...it will be a perfect vase for all the shasta daisies that are blooming now in my front yard!
Here's a closeup of the front...
I'm jumping around here...but bear with me...we went to Pasadena City College yesterday...there is a flea market the first Sunday of the month...huge flea market too...and it's free to get in. We couldn't see everything there was...just not enough time. I picked up this platter and 4 matching dinner plates for $5...I saw the platter and wanted it...why or why do I have such a thing for platters and bowls!! Anyway...she said it was part of a set and $5 for the set was great! It is not that old I imagine...probably 1980's...but it is marked USA...that sealed the deal! That and the price...and that they were all in perfect condition.
Here's what I got at the church rummage sale...I have no idea why...but I had to have them! It was $2 for both...the were published in 1926 and 1923...I love old hymnals...no idea why...
So far this morning Don and gardened for a few hours...well...he mowed and pulled bermuda grass out of part of the back lawn that has some growing...it has been bothering him that its there...so he will work at it until its gone! I fiddled in the veggies...we picked our first cucumber and bell pepper...we have had lots of yellow peppers and tomatoes...soon the yellow squash will be big enough too...
The rest of the day I plan on spending in front of the sewing machine...
Until next time....enjoy the day!!!

That is very neat that you are teaching. I used to speak at a nursing thing with one of those old overheads and it was awful. The hymn books were a good find.

Good for you Linda, on teaching the class! Where is that store? I sure miss the Walmart bargain bin of fabrics. I used to buy entire bolts for a steal of a deal. I have been wanting to go to that flea market too. Nice finds!!!
