It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas....

I finally started to get up my Christmas decorations...I thought today...I would show you a few...I have a small house...so I like to decorate the tops of everything...this is the top of my refrigerator...
This is one of my many Jim Shore Santas...I love them...they are just my style...a little rustic and yet so warm and cozy and colorful...
And just look at his face...how can you not fall in love with him! I did...many years ago!
This is the top of the curio cabinet that holds all of my special friends...my Hummels...we got these Santas years ago too...
Greenery, pine cones and some natural looking berries work best for me...I love all the shine of Christmas...but not so much in my home...I think simple and homemade works best for me...
Here is the top of the wall unit in my living room...I made that Santa about 15 plus years ago...
This is the other side of the wall unit...this Santa was painted by Don...our first Christmas! We had very little money and of course...no decorations...so we went to the ceramic store and bought lots of inexpensive ornaments and decorations and painted them...those stores were so popular in the late 1970's. We still have a few of the most treasured items from that first Christmas...every time I see this Santa...all those wonderful memories come flooding back...actually it's that way with so many of my treasures...little memory triggers!
This is the middle of the wall unit...more pine cones...I love pine cones! There are little tiny clear lights in all the garlands...we turn them on at night and they give a nice warm glow to the room. I am still putting up the last of the decorations...I will show you more later...I have the Christmas music on now...Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby are my favorites...they, too, bring back memories of a simpler time when we didn't rush all over to get things done...so this year I am trying my best not to rush...to enjoy the season and remember why we celebrate this wonderful season...He would want it that way!
Until next time...enjoy the day!!!

Hi Linda! I'm telling myself the same thing - best not to rush but ENJOY this blessed season and remember our Savior's humble birth.
I love all those Santas!
Lovely!

What fun decorations! Those 'we didn't have much but still wanted to get a few decorations together' pieces are priceless, aren't they?! We have a few like that, too. I love all of your pinecones. I'm trying to phase out some of our 'I'm buying this just because' decorations and go more simple & natural. Trying is the operative word! ;)

I just saw some Jim Shore ornaments on Monday for the first time; yours are very nice! As are the rest of your decorations. Isn't it crazy how busy December gets? Love all your bags, and what a great idea to make some for groceries! BTW that's a really different ornamental pepper, so very interesting.

It's looking so festive and cheery Linda - love it! Jim Shore's pieces always make me smile - I have a small collection of his witches, but haven't managed to even get them out the past couple of Halloweens...sad when life gets so busy you can't even enjoy the things that have brought you joy. I so love your pinecones and naturals - I drool over the homes that have managed to "simplify" their holiday decor and go "au natuerle" - but once I open one of those storage boxes, I'm done....how can I NOT get carried away with all the fun memories??? Hope your day is off to a great start! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

I am always drawn to the Jim Shore figures, but I don't have any. They are so detailed and interesting. I love pinecones too and for some reason I don't have any out yet. Maybe they will be my "winter" after Christmas look!
