Shopping and singing in the rain...

Yesterday morning we took off early and drove down to San Diego to see the kids...it was pretty much a gloomy day...but it didn't matter to us...we were a family...and so we decided to go over to Hillcrest to the farmer's market...they have a really good one there...but sadly...it was raining on and off so I didn't take my camera out...a little rain didn't ruin our day though! We started with eating the best tamales...the were at a vegetarian stand and so yummy! I had spinach, feta cheese and tomatillos... now how can you go wrong with that! There was potato... mushroom...all kinds...we stood around and passed them all around...trying each one...the mushroom was wonderful too and I liked Anna's choice of sweet corn...anyway...we bought some fruit and vegetables and took them home and divided them up...we were wet...but happy!
Anna and I chose these ornamental pepper stalks to take home...they don't require water and will dry on the stem...I thought they added a Autummy feel to my bathroom!

These were the cutest baby squash ever...they are so tiny...they will make a good dinner tonight!
I got a big heirloom tomato too...
I still have these guys ripening on my windowsill...they are medium size tomatoes left from the big beef we have growing in the yard...I have a few green ones on the vine still...I don't know how long the plant will last because suddenly it has become very cold here...there was actual frost on the roof this morning...brrrr!!
I wanted to show you how small the little squash actually is compared to the tomatoes...they will be sweet and tender tonight!! I think I will saute them with some peppers and tomatoes from my garden...I will let you know how it goes....
Until next time....enjoy the day!!!

Wasn't the weather crazy. Yesterday with the lightning and thunder. Very cozy. I love a good farmer's market. We don't have a real good one around here but thankfully I have a good produce market that is really cheap.

I love farmers markets. I think I could live on home grown veggies. I have found those tiny squash at the coast. They are so good. Also tiny brussel sprouts. You not only scored some wonderful veggies, but a good outing with family. Ohhh those tamales sounded wonderful too. My mouth is watering.

I think it is great you didn't let the rain ruin your day. I'm already missing fresh produce, I really don't like winter and I feel it creeping in quickly! It sounds like you had a fun day!
