A fun project complete...

I wanted to share the latest project I just finished...this is a large piece I did all in black...I guess it's called black work then...I got this pattern a while back and the only thing that was holding me back from starting it...was tracing it onto the fabric...there's a lot of detail here...and it would take me FOREVER!! I read about the freezer paper transfer...but that wasn't going to work with my printer...then I discovered this "Transfer-Ez". I was a little skeptical at first...but it was easy to work with and stuck pretty well to the fabric. I did get a little concerned part way through the project...what if it doesn't dissolve...maybe I should have started with a small project just for practice...but NO...I don't do things that way...so I went with it....

Now the scary part...soak it in cold water...will it all dissolve and turn out OK?

It seemed OK...I hung it to dry...after it dried I realized that directions are meant for a reason...when it says soak for 10 minutes...they mean it...so...back in the cold water for 10 minutes this time...until the water was nice and clear when I rinsed it...I didn't want any residue left on it...after all the time I spent stitching...

Here's a peek with the Transfer-Ez still on...my photos got a bit mixed up...or is it me that is mixed up...I'm not telling!

I ironed it...and laid it out to frame...I was going to try and find a yard sale frame...or go thrifting for one...but I was too anxious...and besides Michael's frames were still 40% off...

So I found a nice frame there...I like this frame...it's simple, but has some of the paint sanded off the edges to give it a worn look...Don helped me frame it...it is straight...or as straight as it can be...the design is a little wonky...I think it's supposed to be that way...or ...yes...I did it that way on purpose!! That's it! I like it anyways...wonky or not! Don even hung it for me ...hanging pictures is not something I do really well...hammers and nails...let's just say I have an issue with them...and too many holes in the walls...so it's best left to the expert!

It's been raining most of the day here today...a perfect day for sewing...so I'm off to my sewing machine while Don watches the Angel game. Life is good!

Enjoy the day, my friends!!!

Very sweet embroidery! It looks like a Kathy Schmitz design...am I right? I love her artwork and have some that I want to start. I even have the Transfer-eze to try. Thanks for the tip about soaking it the full 10 minutes..good to know! How lovely your framed artwork looks! Love the bees!

WOW, such beautiful work. I love the finished look. The black frame was the perfect choice. Reminds you of the samplers of old. Great job. You are a very talented lady. Hugs, Ginger :)

Great job...... I use transfereze all the time but now Bird Brain designs now sells something else that is 8 1/2 by 11 and I think it would go through the printer better..... I will let you know if I get some........ Right now I need to use up my Transfereze..........

The embroidery is such a lovely addition to your home........
