The end of the artichokes...

Sadly...there are only two artichoke plants left in the yard...I had to cut the others down so they could rest until Fall...but they will be back and next Spring we will have more delicious artichokes! I think we may only have enough for one last meal...
We always let one of the artichokes go to flower...just because they are so pretty...this flower will last quite a while and then I will cut this plant back...

It is such a pretty color of lavender...

Here's a close up of the top...

It is really warming up here in my neck of the woods...I have been gardening all day and when I checked the thermometer under the apple tree...it read 90 degrees. I think that's the warmest it's been for quite some time...I guess Summer is here to stay!

Enjoy your day, my friends...I hope you too, find beauty in your back yard!

My daughter and I love artichokes. I knew they flowered but had no idea how beautiful they were. Lucky you!

I love artichokes, but I never even thought about how they grow! I'm so shocked at that gorgeous purple flower on top! I guess we really do learn something new every day!

I just want you to know how much I'm using my bag. It is perfect to carry between our house and all the trips we have been making to the in-law town. I just love it!

I have tried to grow artichokes to no avail. We love them and I've heard that once you get them growing they can be quite prolific. Lucky you to have so many and how beautiful they are when going to seed, just like the beautiful thistles that they are. Lovely photos. I enjoyed this post.

Hi Linda,
I love artichokes...We drive by a artichoke field on our way home from work..I loved watching them grow. I have noticed some purple flowers in the field.
How fun to grow your own..maybe next year we will try to grow artichokes..
Have a sweet day and hugs, Elizbeth

Hi Linda, I am not sure my other comment went through, so I will try again....

I don't think I have ever seen a flowering artichoke before. Just gorgeous! It reminds me of a sea urchin.

Stay cool!
