A visit in Old Town Temecula...

On Saturday, I went down to Temecula to have lunch and visit with my sons. My sons live in San Diego and Temecula is the 1/2 way place between our homes, so it's a great place to meet. For one, they have a great farmer's market on Saturday in Old Town and plenty of nice stores and great places to eat. One of my favorite places to shop is The Wool Lady. Her store is so cute and she has so much beautiful wool and everything else you need to work with wool.

My boys are very accommodating....they don't mind going with me... in fact, they were a great help filling up my baggie full of wool scraps. Anyway...the most exciting thing that happened to me while I was there wasn't the wool...it was the bag I was carrying. You see...I always carry one of my homemade bags, stocked full of business cards...just in case someone should ask me about them. I am just starting out and I need to market myself whenever I can....like on this blog...anyway...she really liked the bag and asked me if I would like to sell my bags at her store!! Of course I would, I said...I just have to make a few to bring down there...

So here is the first one! I didn't want to take any out of my Etsy shop...I don't have that many in there to begin with...I really liked this fabric when I bought it. The colors don't show as true on the camera, but the blue that's the back ground is pretty much the color of faded out jeans.

I thought I could dress it up with a embroidered pocket. I sort of copied a couple of the flowers from the fabric and made this design...

I added some ties to the sides.

This is the inside. There are pockets all the way around the insides and a snap closure. I hope she will like this one for her shop....now I better get busy making more. I want to take 3 or 4 down there for starters. I hope this venture will get my bags more exposure and maybe if people see how much work I put into the bags, they will visit my on-line shop too.
Enjoy the rest of the day!!

Linda, that is so fantastic!!! You should come up with a business logo that you are know by. Do you ever read Pleated Poppy blog? She is on my blogroll. Check it out. Love your newest bag, and I have loved every single one you have produced. You should make oodles of them, and take them to shops all over to sell. Good luck, and congratulations!!

Wow! Congrats on the offer and good luck with sales! I looked into buying a home in Temecula years ago in one of the (then) new communities. It is a great little town!!!

Congratulations on your new sales adventure! I'm sure they will be big sellers...love the pockets on the inside. I made pockets that I transfer from bag to bag and velcro in.
Thanks for visiting my blog and your sweet comments. Annette

Linda, you so so gifted. I will check out your Etsy shop later. Your bag can fill a lot of stuff, which is what I like.

P.S. The Tall Ships Festival happens every year in September in Dana Point.

Yay, Linda! I am so happy that the owner of one of your favorite shops wants to sell your bags! How cool is that?! I do the same thing as you...always carry one of my bags and a big stack of business cards. Lots of folks ask - I hand out a lot of cards and have gotten some sales, but I've never gotten an offer like that. I hope you have lots and lots of sales and this is just the beginning of a great business for you!

And, that bag is fabulous. I love how you made the embroidery pattern to match the fabric...so cool!

XOXO,

Cyndi
