Villa Park Boutique...

Sunday was the boutique and garden show in the city of Villa Park...I told you a few times about the invite I got to join this boutique...Villa Park...for those of you who don't know the area...is in Orange County and a very wealthy area...so I thought it would be a great boutique to be in...WRONG!! I thought I might show you the crowds...There were NONE! Every once in a while some women would walk by and we'd greet them and some would stop in for a quick peek...most would just walk by to head for the bar! Yes...I said bar...crazy...I know. Needless to say I won't be doing this show again...these women wore expensive designer clothes...I was SO out of my league! But I made my fee back and a bit more...and I met some terrific vendors...who were just as disappointed...and they gave me great tips and an invitation to some other events.

All was not lost...I learned ways to make my booth a bit more welcoming...it's sort of boring I think...from the gals in the next booth...I will be buying an outdoor area rug...they had a animal print one that was great! Plus I need more on the sides...although it was hot and my plain sides let a wonderful breeze blow through...
So Don and I are going to Carlsbad this Sunday to check out what is called the biggest street fair in Southern California. The gals next to us do that fair twice a year and say the November fair is awesome...so we'll see if we can apply to get in. I don't make a living out of this...it's just something I do for fun and a bit of extra money to feed my fabric habit...so I'm OK with a bad experience...I learned and will move on. I did learn too...that wealthy areas do not mean sales...I'm better off with the middle of the road people like myself...Oh and something pretty exciting...I sold my first bag to Norway...yes...Norway...I was afraid the shipping costs would be too high, but I guess not...and now one of my bags will be arriving there in a few days!
On other news...Don gets better every day...his toe is still bothering him a bit, but I think he needs to exercise it more...he hadn't done it as much when he was feeling so poorly, but he hasn't coughed much at all although we still sleep with a vaporizer on...he's admits he's still worried about starting to cough again. At his last appointment, his doctor said it probably was a very bad virus and that he will build an immunity to it from having it...it just seems weird that if it was a virus...why didn't I catch it?? Or the kids...I don't think we'll ever know.
It's gloomy and drizzly here today and yesterday...it makes me feel sleepy, but I have lots to do...I have been organizing all my sewing supplies, wool and fabric...trying to make things easier to get to...I have bought all sizes of plastic bins...Target is so loving me right now! Well...back to cleaning I go...

Enjoy your day!!!

Oh, I'm so sorry your show was a bit of a bust! I SO know what that's like... you just never know what the day will bring, despite all the hard work that goes into it! I have to say, I LOVE your Hometown bag with the red trim. That would have gone home with me for sure!

all your bags look great hanging there....... shame the market didn't go so well but I have found you could go to the same markets several times and some go well and others not so well.........

Your bags and your booth look wonderful. I love your sign too.
Too bad it wasn's a better show for you, but at least you have inventory for Etsy and the next show. I've had some bad experiences too, but that's when I'll sell out at the next one. I just can't believe how many bags you have. It's amazing how you make each one unique.
Glad Don is getting better.
It's been drizzily here too, but it just keeps me inside sewing.

Oh, that's a shame about the craft show. I used to do craft shows years ago and I know the disappointment of no crowds. Plus, the time goes by so slowly if it's not busy! I just added your Etsy shop to my favorites! Glad your hubby is better.

Well, bummer about that craft show. Did you make that pretty quilt in the background. At least you have a stock for the next show and etsy! So glad to hear Don's feeling better again.
